Boris es, en mi opinión uno de los 10 mejores pianistas de la actualidad (aunque esa lista sea imposible de hacer). Sus interpretaciones siempre van más allá de lo necesario, el siempre busca dar ese extra que hace que los oyentes, nos preguntemos, ¿cómo hace eso? En esta ocasión, interpreta y dirige este magnífico concierto. El concierto para piano n 1 en Re menor, fue compuesto cuando Johannes tenía 25 años, cuando empezaba su carrera, lo cual sorprende al analizar la densidad y maestría del texto del concierto, digno de un compositor ya maduro. (y no solo maduro sino magistral) El concierto consta de 3 movimientos: Maestoso, Adagio y Rondó, cada uno, una obra de arte de la literatura musical, tanto así que se considera tanto un concierto para el piano como para la orquesta, rompiendo el típico molde de acompañante de la orquesta.
